New Moon in Virgo • September 10, 2026
There are moments when the universe does not whisper.
It rearranges the furniture.
A door that has always been closed suddenly opens. A plan you were certain about stops making sense. Someone says something that lands differently than it would have a month ago. An opportunity appears from an unexpected direction. An old desire resurfaces, but this time you realize you are actually ready for it.
Sometimes change arrives quietly.
And sometimes something in the cosmos gives the table a good shake and says, Pay attention.
That is the energy I feel around this Virgo New Moon.
Virgo is often associated with order, discernment, routines, work, health, organization, and getting our lives into some semblance of functioning properly. But there is another side to Virgo that deserves more attention. Virgo knows how to notice things. It sees the detail everyone else overlooked. It recognizes the pattern hidden inside the mess.
Virgo understands that one tiny adjustment can change the entire outcome.
And this New Moon arrives with Uranus square the Sun and Moon, while Uranus itself stations retrograde.
That is not exactly the astrology of sitting quietly in the same place and politely making a five year plan.
It is much stranger than that.
Uranus is the great disruptor, the planet associated with awakening, rebellion, liberation, invention, sudden realization, and those moments when life takes a turn we did not see coming. When Uranus enters the conversation, we are sometimes reminded that our carefully constructed plans are not the only forces shaping our lives.
There are currents beneath the surface
There are things already changing before we have consciously decided to change them.
And sometimes the thing we call a disruption is actually a redirection.
When the Pattern Breaks
I think we sometimes assume that manifestation means deciding exactly what we want and then holding that image so tightly that the universe has no choice but to deliver it.
I have never found life to be quite that obedient.
Sometimes we ask for one thing and receive the opportunity to become the person who could receive something much better.
Sometimes we ask for a door to open and instead discover that we have been standing in front of the wrong door entirely.
That can be uncomfortable.
It can also be magic.
The Virgo New Moon asks us to become very honest about the patterns we are participating in. Not because we need to criticize ourselves or become obsessed with self improvement, but because discernment is a form of power.
What keeps repeating?
What keeps draining you?
What keeps calling you?
What have you outgrown without admitting it?
And perhaps the most interesting question of all:
What if the thing that needs to change is not what you thought it was?
That is where Uranus enters.
Uranus has a habit of showing us the place where we have become too comfortable with an old answer.
It can shake loose an assumption.
It can interrupt a routine.
It can introduce an idea that seems completely impractical at first and then, days or weeks later, refuses to leave your mind.
It can make you wonder whether the life you have been trying so hard to organize is actually the life you want.
And that is where this New Moon becomes much more interesting than another invitation to tidy up your calendar.
This is a moon for recalibration.
Not perfection.
Not control.
Recalibration.
Something has shifted.
Perhaps you can feel it already.
The Witch Knows When to Watch
There is an old instinct in magical practice that I think we sometimes forget.
Before you cast, you observe.
You watch the candle flame.
You notice the strange coincidence.
You pay attention to the dream.
You notice what keeps appearing in conversation.
You watch what suddenly feels heavy and what suddenly feels alive.
You listen.
Not every sign is a message, of course. Not every coincidence needs to become a prophecy. But there is a difference between obsessively searching for signs and becoming receptive enough to recognize when something meaningful crosses your path.
That is the kind of magic I want to bring into this New Moon.
Not frantic manifestation.
Magical attention.
The ability to stop for a moment and say, Interesting.
The ability to recognize when your intuition has been trying to tell you something you were too busy, too afraid, or too attached to an old plan to hear.
Virgo gives us discernment.
Uranus gives us disruption.
Together, they create a fascinating question:
What becomes possible when you are willing to change your mind?
The Messages Beneath the Surface
There is something else I love about this particular New Moon.
It arrives after a summer that has asked a great deal of us astrologically. We have moved through the intensity of the eclipse season, the Leo solar eclipse, the Lion’s Gate period, the Pisces lunar eclipse, and all of the emotional and energetic movement that came with them.
Now Virgo arrives.
But Virgo is not asking us to forget everything that happened.
It is asking us to interpret it.
What did those experiences reveal?
What became impossible to ignore?
What did you learn about yourself?
What did you finally admit?
What changed inside you, even if nothing around you changed yet?
This is where Virgo’s gift of discernment becomes important.
Sometimes transformation does not announce itself with a dramatic moment. Sometimes it reveals itself in the realization that you no longer want what you once wanted.
That is a powerful kind of awakening.
Perhaps something that used to feel like your dream now feels strangely small.
Perhaps a situation you once tolerated has become impossible to tolerate.
Perhaps you have discovered that your intuition was right all along.
Perhaps you are simply beginning to understand yourself differently.
There is magic in that realization.
Because once you see something clearly, you cannot quite go back to unseeing it.
When the Unexpected Becomes the Doorway
Uranus can bring surprises, but surprise does not always mean chaos.
Sometimes surprise is freedom.
The unexpected phone call.
The unusual opportunity.
The person you almost did not meet.
The idea that arrives while you are doing something completely unrelated.
The sudden urge to investigate something you had forgotten about.
The strange coincidence that makes you stop and wonder.
These moments do not necessarily mean you have been handed a cosmic instruction.
But they can be invitations to pay attention.
And perhaps that is one of the most powerful things we can do during this New Moon.
Instead of asking only, What do I want to manifest?
Ask:
What am I being shown?
That is a very different question.
One puts us in the position of demanding an answer.
The other makes us receptive.
And receptivity is where intuition has room to speak.
A Little Less Control, A Little More Curiosity
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to know exactly how everything is going to turn out.
We want the plan.
We want the timeline.
We want confirmation.
We want to know that if we take this step, the next five steps will unfold exactly as imagined.
Unfortunately, life has never been particularly interested in providing that kind of guarantee.
Perhaps this New Moon is an invitation to loosen our grip.
Not abandon our intentions.
Not stop making plans.
Just leave a little room for the unexpected.
.
You can know what you value without knowing exactly how you will get there.
You can have an intention without dictating every detail.
You can make a choice without knowing the entire outcome.
You can trust your intuition while still allowing yourself to gather information
That balance feels very Virgo and very Uranus!
Ground yourself.
Then stay open. :)
A New Moon Ritual for Changing Course
For this New Moon, I want to do something a little different…
Rather than writing a long list of everything you want to manifest, take three small pieces of paper.
On the first, write:
WHAT I KNOW
On the second:
WHAT I SUSPECT
On the third:
WHAT I AM READY TO DISCOVER
Sit somewhere quiet and place the three papers in front of you.
Begin with the first.
Write down what you genuinely know about your life right now. Not what you wish were true. Not what someone else has told you should be true. What you actually know.
Then move to the second.
What have you been sensing?
What has your intuition been nudging you toward?
What keeps catching your attention?
What feels different, even if you cannot explain why?
Finally, take the third paper.
This is the mysterious one.
Write down what you are willing to discover.
You might write about a new opportunity, a relationship, a creative direction, a financial possibility, a change in your environment, a deeper understanding of yourself, or simply the courage to see your life differently.
Fold each paper.
Place your hands over them and say:
I trust myself to recognize what is meant for me.
I release the need to know every step.
I remain grounded, discerning, and open to unexpected possibilities.
Show me what I am ready to see.
Then leave the three pieces of paper somewhere private overnight.
In the morning, do not immediately go searching for a sign.
Go about your day. Pay attention.
Sometimes the answer arrives as an opportunity. Sometimes it arrives as a realization.
Sometimes it arrives as a very clear feeling that something is no longer right.
And sometimes it arrives as something so unexpected that you laugh and think, Well, I certainly wasn’t expecting that.
That counts too.
Questions Beneath the Virgo New Moon
Instead of asking yourself what you should fix, consider asking something more interesting.
What pattern am I finally ready to recognize?
Where have I been ignoring my own intuition?
What have I been trying to control that may need more room to unfold?
What possibility keeps returning to my attention?
What would I explore if I knew I did not have to commit to it immediately?
What part of my life feels ready for a completely different approach?
What old answer am I still carrying simply because it used to work?
And perhaps the question I would sit with longest:
What if something better is possible, but it does not look the way I expected?
Words to Carry Into the New Moon
You do not have to chase every possibility.
You do not have to turn every coincidence into a message.
You do not have to throw your entire life into chaos simply because Uranus is stirring the cosmic pot.
You simply have to pay attention.
Notice what changes.
Notice what repeats.
Notice what suddenly feels possible.
Notice what no longer feels like you.
And when something unexpected crosses your path, pause before dismissing it.
There is wisdom in discernment.
There is power in intuition.
There is freedom in changing your mind.
And there is a particular kind of magic that happens when you stop insisting that the universe follow your original blueprint.
Maybe the new path will be obvious.
Maybe it will begin with a strange little nudge.
Maybe it will arrive as a door you never knew was there.
You don’t have to know yet.
Just be aware enough to notice when it opens.
A Letter Beneath the New Moon
Dear September,
I am not asking you to give me every answer.
I am asking you to help me recognize the ones that matter.
Show me where I have been repeating an old pattern.
Show me where I have mistaken familiarity for happiness.
Show me the places where fear has been making decisions for me.
And when something unexpected appears, help me pause before I turn away.
Give me discernment without cynicism.
Give me intuition without obsession.
Give me courage without recklessness.
Let me remain grounded enough to know what is real and open enough to recognize what is possible.
If I am standing at the wrong door, help me notice.
If there is another path, help me see it.
And if something wonderful is already moving toward me from a direction I never considered, let me be willing to receive it.
I am ready to change course when the time is right.
I am ready to listen.
I am ready to discover.

The Magic of Changing Your Mind
And that is the real gift of this Virgo New Moon.
Not another opportunity to become a better, more organized, more productive version of ourselves.
It is permission to become a different version of ourselves altogether.
The version who knows what they know.
The version who trusts what they feel.
The version who notices when something no longer fits.
The version who is willing to say, I thought I wanted that, but I don’t anymore.
There is nothing wrong with changing your mind.
There is nothing wrong with changing direction.
There is nothing wrong with realizing that the dream you were chasing belonged to an older version of you.
The stars do not require us to remain loyal to a path simply because we once chose it.
Sometimes the most magical thing we can do is turn around.
Sometimes it is walking through the door.
And sometimes it is standing at the crossroads, looking at the road we never considered before, and realizing that somewhere deep inside, we have been waiting for it.
This New Moon, pay attention.
Something may be changing.
And you may be changing with it!
And so it is
Continue Your Journey
A New Moon can be an especially meaningful time to step back and ask what you are truly creating, rather than simply what you are hoping will happen.
